Valentine’s Day Bar Cart

LISTEN UP – there’s only 6 days until Valentine’s Day. If you haven’t read my previous post about Valentine’s, let me do a quick recap. YOU ARE DOING V-DAY WRONG if you are only celebrating as a couple.

Plus, it’s on a Wednesday this year, so if you play your cards right, you can celebrate for TWO weekends. So you obviously have to have a pre-valentine’s situation this weekend, celebrate galentine’s on the 13th, celebrate valentine’s on the 14th, do a chocolate detox for Thurs, then have a post-valentine’s party the next weekend.

That’s right, I  just gave you FOUR reasons to celebrate in the next week. That sounds like a lot of work, I’m with you. But let’s take this one step at a time. Today’s step: VALENTINE’S BAR CART!

If you are out there and are thinking you are going to skip this step because you don’t drink, because you don’t own a bar cart, because you don’t have a lot of spare cash, blah blah…. these ARE NOT excuses! Did you really think I would let you off that easily?

Think outside of the box, party starters! You could do a Valentine’s coffee cart – or if you don’t have a cart, make it a corner in your kitchen. Re-arrange your coffee table in your living room with all the pink and red that you have around the house. The goal is to GET. IN. THE. SPIRIT. Capeesh?

Check out my Instagram story highlights to catch some of my Valentine’s day bargain shopping if you need more inspiration. I scored FAB stuff from Walmart, TJ Maxx, Dollar Tree, and more. The key here is doing something.

Full disclosure here, I definitely get all bah-humbug about these smaller holidays too. You have so much shit going on, and you’re like, Valentine’s doesn’t matter, I don’t have time, I’ll skip. NO!! Spend literally half an hour making a little corner of happiness in your home/apartment/dorm room. You will be SO glad that you did.

I started decorating for Valentine’s on Monday night, and I was exhausted. I still hadn’t showered from going to the gym, I had just eaten dinner at 10pm. I wanted to shower and just go to bed. But I held myself to the standard of joy that I want in my life, and you can too. So I spent half an hour putting up a few things.

I can’t begin to tell you how much of a day brightener this was! Just to spend a little time doing something that’s for yourself, and that isn’t a chore. It’s not dishes, it’s not laundry, it’s not answering someone else’s emails. Ever since then, it has made me so happy to come home and see my little fab corner of Valentine’s spirit!

So pencil in some time for YOU tonight – whether you go out and grab a few fun decorations from the store or you just work with what you already have at home, the spirit is what counts. Be sure to tag me on Instagram in your stories or posts of your Valentine’s decor!

Cheers,

Casey
