So at this point I’m assuming that you have all jumped on the lavender bandwagon. It’s all I’ve been talking about for essentially the last week, so if you still haven’t gotten your hands on it, you are BEYOND behind. If you don’t know what I’m talking about or are dragging your feet – you MUST read my post from last Monday.
OK, now that we’ve taken care of that, I am SO excited to share this cocktail with you. Let me begin by saying the most important detail – there are only two ingredients. I repeat, two ingredients. You cannot mess this up. Literally no matter how inept you are at making cocktails. I’m talking to you, my peeps who are still using sparkling ice as a mixer on the reg. I’m not hating, I do it too. But let’s all pretend to be adults for a sec and try for something new, ok?
This fancy lil number was inspired by Husbands That Cook. I’m OBSESSED with them. If you haven’t taken a trip through their serene backyard via Instagram story, you are seriously depriving yourself of a life well lived. They are always sharing the BEST recipes and spreading positive vibes.
A few weeks ago, they shared the recipe for this cocktail, and I was instantly inspired. The recipe does call for a somewhat involved situation for preparing the grapefruit for garnish, but if you are still feeling like a novice level mixologist just skip and focus on the more important things, like infusing your vodka.
Full disclosure here, the infusion does take 2-5 days. Read my post here for all the deets about how to infuse the vodka. I used Tito’s because they are my forever love, but if you are in a committed relationship with a vodka you can totally infuse that for this recipe too.
The grapefruit juice we used for this recipe is Natalie’s brand, but any high quality juice wil do. Skip the Tropicana for this one. Once you have your infusing complete, grab the vodka & grapefruit juice and it’s time to shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your boooootay. Or cocktail shaker. Or both at the same time, up to you.
Two Ingredient Lavender & Grapefruit Cocktail
Adapted from Husbands That Cook
- 1.5 oz lavender infused vodka
- 4 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- grapefruit & sugar for garnish (optional)
If preparing garnish: Slice grapefruit and sprinkle with sugar. Broil in oven until the edges start to turn black and the sugar begins to bubble. This should only take a few minutes. Remove from oven and let cool, then slice each section in half down the middle.
To create the cocktail, pour the vodka and grapefruit juice into a glass filled with ice. Stir and top with the grapefruit slice if you choose.
Are you ready to get mixing? I hope that you love this delish and easy cocktail as much as I did! I made this drink with some girlfriends last week, and it was the perfect mid-week pick me up. How are you planning to spice up your week?
